Licensed Psychoanalyst in NYC

Dr. Matthew Paldy, PhD, LP

As a NYS Licensed Psychoanalyst, my work grew out of a lifelong curiosity about how people manage their emotions and relationships. I trained extensively to understand this — earning degrees from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, Stony Brook University, and the University of Rhode Island, and completing six years of postdoctoral psychoanalytic training at the National Psychological Association for Psychoanalysis (NPAP) and the Theodor Reik Clinical Center in Manhattan.

Before entering clinical practice, I earned a PhD in Business Administration (Management and Organizational Behavior) and worked in software development and financial management for organizations including Chase, CIBC Capital Markets, Dow Jones, Simon & Schuster, American Express, the NYC Department of Education, Kaplan Test Prep, and The College Board. I have taught management and leadership at the university level and led training programs for professionals from organizations such as Liberty Mutual, General Motors, Merrill Lynch, and Marriott. I also developed the Critical Thinking Program for the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.

I provide specialized therapy and my practice focuses on three primary areas:

I help accomplished individuals move beyond coping toward deeper clarity, emotional resilience, and a renewed sense of personal and professional purpose.
