Dr. Matthew Paldy, PhD, LP

NYS Licensed Psychoanalyst & Psychotherapist

I engage with the whole of who you are—your thoughts, emotions, history, and hopes for the future.

My clinical practice grew out of a lifelong curiosity about how we manage complex emotions and the internal psychological patterns that shape our lives. I hold degrees from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, the University of Rhode Island, and Stony Brook University. I completed six years of post-doctoral training at the National Psychological Association for Psychoanalysis (NPAP) and the Theodor Reik Clinical Center in Manhattan.

Before my clinical training, I worked in the corporate world, earned a PhD in Organizational Behavior, and taught at colleges and universities. I have consulted for many organizations including Chase, UBS/Credit Suisse, CIBC Capital Markets, Merrill Lynch, Nabisco, Xerox, American Express, Simon & Schuster, Kaplan TestPrep, The College Board, and the NYC Department of Education. I also developed the Critical Thinking Program for the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.

While much of my professional background involves work with business professionals and high achievers, I believe emotional suffering is universal. I work with people from many walks of life, including those navigating loneliness, self-doubt, trauma, burnout, relationship struggles, and periods of feeling stuck or overwhelmed.

In my personal time, I enjoy independent films, woodworking, surfing, and literature.
